Korean pop idol Rain to visit RP
SEOUL (AFP) - South Korean pop idol Rain will get his own plane decorated with his picture for part of an upcoming international tour that includes the Philippines, flag carrier Korean Air said.
The airline said late Wednesday it would provide free tickets and transport throughout the tour and promote the concerts through its overseas offices.
The tour, dubbed "Rain's Coming," will involve more than 35 performances over six months in the United States, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Taiwan.
It starts Saturday in Las Vegas and is billed as the largest ever overseas tour by a Korean singer. Korean Air said a plane bearing the singer's portrait would be used for several of the journeys.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to World Vision's project to help Asian children suffering from AIDS.
"We decided to support Rain's tour as we can help Korean culture advance in the world through the concerts. The concerts also help underprivileged children," said airline president Lee Jong-Hee.
